Zen Internet Now at Soaring Speeds with a 20Mb Broadband Service
Plans have been drafted by Zen Internet to upgrade to British Telecom’s 21st Century network, which will allow it to leverage the asymmetrical digital subscriber line two plus technology. The technology will support the provider’s first 20 Mb broadband service, and the best part is that it will not cost the customers anything extra.
With similar pricing and faster download speeds, customers will be able to enjoy the benefits of the new service with no action required from their side. However, the speeds may vary, averaging between 9-13 Mb and a potential top speed of 20Mb, besides an upload speed of up to 1Mb. Factors that may alter the speed may be the distance of the customer from the local exchange, the quality of the BT exchange wiring as well as customers’ internal wiring. The service is conditional, depending on availability in the area where the customer is located – Not sure of your broadband speed, click for a broadband speed check.
The upgrades though may have to wait until after spring 2010. Zen Internet has blamed BT for the delays. They claim that the period of upgrade is longer as the change warrants a BT engineer to work with each local exchange. With the restricted number of BT engineers, they estimate the move to take eight months.
So, if you are a Zen Internet customer and on a 21CN enabled BT exchange, just be patient and you may soon be upgraded to Zen Internet’s ‘up to 20Mbits/sec broadband ADSL2+ services’.
