Unstoppable Businessmen

I want to write today about the ‘Unstoppables’ – the businessmen who go from strength to strength, where everything they have done has been their next success, and their growth has been exponential.

Some of the Unstoppables are in the public eye, others don’t hog the limelight. Whilst Stelios – the boss of EasyJet – is known for posing in front of his bright orange planes, others such as Asif Aziz are content to spend time getting on with their job.

Does a long education thrust potential businessmen into life as an Unstoppable? A number of the top technology bosses are apparently college drop-outs, including Bill Gates and Michael Dell. It’s said that Steve Jobs belongs to this group, but it didn’t stop him founding the most stylish computer company around, and being instrumental in the success of Pixar.

However, this doesn’t mean that an early end to higher education is a sure fire way to being the rise of an Unstoppable. Larry Page and Sergey Brin were kicked into action because of their work at Stanford University, and had the resources available to them to begin their global domination.

What the Unstoppables all share is an ability to always be making the next step, and the guts to want to. Richard Branson was not content to run a mail-order record business, or a chain of record shops. He was ten steps ahead, preparing his brand to unleash colas, mobile phones, radio stations and an airline. It’s hard to argue that his plan to launch commercial space-tourism flights doesn’t need severe guts behind it.

So, don’t just come up with a great idea, come up with ten, or twenty, or a hundred. Get going, and see where they take you. Maybe one day, people will know you as the next Unstoppable!
