The Pros and Cons of Val D’Isere in France
Among Europe’s most celebrated snowboarding resorts, Val d’Isre brags 544 kilometres of marked ski pistes. The ski season begins during Nov and stops in the start of May. The high altitude resort supplies everything for you. The resort unfolds down the vale from La Daille as far as Le Fornet with the apres ski in the centre of Val d’Isere itself. The cluster of pretty homes contain smart boutiques nearly all of which have appeared since the town was chosen for the 1992 Winter Olympics.
Broken into 3 areas the town has ample trails for all levels and is great for luxury ski holidays. With a fab snow record, the village is enormously fashionable amidst pro boarders and mileage hungry intermediates, on the other hand you do not need to be especially advanced to enjoy what is there. One can easily see why so many British are pulled in to the area, with its crazy nightlife and the wide variety of entertainment on offer, but the close proximity of Tignes enables you to venture out to less busy areas if it all becomes too much.
Pros
A superior night out in France. Everyone speaks English. Comfortable access to Val d’Isre and Tignes known as the the Espace Killy skiing area. There is a lot of vehicles and though there are regular buses during the daytime, committed party animmals should aim to be within a short distance of the town.
Cons
Costly. Frantic and fashionable with English tourists, therefore not for people looking for a typical French ski town to savour a calming vacation. A lot of lifts can shut in windy conditions. Several difficult blue and green slopes.
