Encouraging Weak Play
Encouraging Weak Play By B. Butler You want your poker opponent to play weak in every hand. The better your poker opponent plays, the harder it is for you to get a leg up on them, and therefore the harder it is for you to take their money. If they are playing bad cards, out of position, against the odds, and so on, while you are playing the better end, this means in the long run you will end up with all of their money. If all of this is true, then why is it that so often we see players ragging on the players who play so bad? A donkey hits a lucky card or plays rags and hits the flop, and suddenly they’re getting screamed at that they don’t know anything about poker, that How can you play that crap, and so on. If we benefit from bad play at Everest Poker, we should expect also sometimes that the loser will benefit in the short run at certain points. If he didn’t he would never play that way. We want his bad behavior reinforced. This sets him up to give us everything over and over again. So when a player is playing bad, make a point to commend his courage, his versatility, or just be quiet, and let him roll right along in ignorance, giving it all up.
